The Sunday Shakedown

Hot Ginger and The Swing Era run another Sunday Shakedown social dance on 3rd September 2017.

Join The Sunday Shakedown’s resident DJ Stephen Badham for a workshop on Swing music and DJing.

Learn about what makes music swing and how to listen to the different elements of a Swing song to make your dancing as musical as possible. You will also learn about how a DJ chooses tunes, what equipment and software you need to DJ effectively and how to get started as a DJ in your local scene.

Stephen has been playing music at Swing dances since he founded Birmingham’s very own ‘Hot Ginger’ swing nights in 2009. He has learned from some of the best Swing DJs in the world including Kyle Smith, Shana Worel and Marc D’Olimpio and has played music at some of the biggest events on the Swing calendar including All Balboa Weekend in Cleveland, Frim Fram in New York, London Balboa Exchange, New York Bal Week and Thames Valley Balboa Festival.
