Stomp Stomp 2018 is coming…
A unique swing dance weekend of Lindy Hop/Solo Jazz workshops alongside Swingamajig Festival, 4/5/6 May 2018
Swingamajig, the UK’s largest alternative vintage festival and The Swing Era – Birmingham’s hottest swing dance school are coming together to run a day of dance workshops with a party in the evening!
Whether you are complete beginner or a seasoned dancer there is something for everyone, with 4 ability groups and internationally acclaimed teachers, it is a fantastic opportunity to brush up your moves before heading to Swingamajig Festival.
We also run an open class – Solo Jazz for Electro Swing where we fuse elements of traditional jazz with street dance and everyone is welcome to that class, whatever your level.
The classes are followed by a Party at All Saints Community Centre/Circus Mash in Kings Heath with a live 16 piece swing band, the Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra, and also a dedicated beginners room so whatever your level you can come and join in the fun.

Suggested donation entry live music only: £5

Day Hopper – Learn Lindy Hop in a Day
The Swing Era presents… Day Hopper – Learn Lindy Hop in a Day!
Always fancied trying Lindy Hop, but never had the time to go to any weekly classes? Really want to get stuck in and get a good sense of what swing dancing is all about?
Sign up to our Day Hopper! Whether you want to come by yourself (as a follow or leader, non gender specific) or sign up as a balanced Lead/Follow couple with your friend or partner, you are welcome to attend. This day workshop is ideal for people who have never danced before or have never danced swing dancing before, but is also suitable for Level 1 students who feel like they want to progress faster.
The Day Hopper Programme is as follows:
1.30pm Welcome with Coffee and tea. A chance to unwind and meet your teachers and the other students of the day.
2-3pm 8 count Lindy Hop class
3-3.15 pm Break
3.15-4pm 6 count Lindy Hop Class
4-4.15pm Break
4.15-5.15pm Charleston Class
5.15-5.30pm Practice session and social dance with vintage 1930s 1940s music.
Prices are £25 per person or £40 for a couple. Gift vouchers are also available for single or couple tickets.
The Swing Era is based in Moseley. We will run the Dayhopper classes in the heart of Moseley Village in the beautiful St Columba Church Hall in the heart of this bohemian neighbourhood, with plenty of coffeeshops, lunchrooms and cafes nearby.

Swing Dancing at Cherry’s
Every Third Tuesday of the Month @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Come and join us for our popular lindy hop taster classes at Cherry Red’s in Birmingham City Centre (88-92 John Bright St, B1 1BN). This taster Lindy hop class at 7pm, which is open to everyone who is interested in trying this exciting vintage dance style for the first time. After the class there will be a change to socialise with a drink at this lovely venue.

Swing at The Village
Come and join us for live swing music and dancing on 2nd Nov in the glass house at the Village pub in Moseley.
8 – 9pm Practice session for starting dancers.
9 – 11pm Live swing music and Dj’s
This is a free event, although we do take donations towards the live music!
Swing at the Bothy
Come join us at the Bothy in the Prince of Wales for our forthnightly social. The next Bothy is on Thursday 12 October (practice hour from 8-9pm, social from 9-11pm). Our DJs will play some fabulous tunes for you! DJs include Dj Dr Cave, DJ Jenn, Tom Chapman and Colonel Swing.
Come along for free, although donations are welcome and go towards getting a live band to perform at the social.
Social starts at 8pm at The Prince of Wales, 118 Alcester road, Moseley
Xmas Swing Dance
On the Sunday 17th December we’ll be having our annual Xmas swing dance. This is a great opportunity to start the festive season with your new and old swing dance friends. We’ve got a real treat in store for you!

– A 2-hour Shag workshop with Jim and Nicky from Swingbytes Dance who will be teaching you a fantastic Beginners 2 hour Shag Workshop before the tea dance!
The times are:
1-3pm Shag workshop
3-6pm Social Dance
