‘Step back in time with Symphony Hall this bank holiday Sunday, as the auditorium is transformed into a glamorous 1930s ballroom.
To get the joint jumpin’ we have The Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra, Birmingham’s hippest 16-piece big band, playing authentic vintage swing music from the 1930s and 40s. Taking its inspiration from the big bands of the swing era, the Orchestra plays the classic original arrangements of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb and Count Basie amongst others.
Joining the Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra is Birmingham’s hottest vintage dance school, The Swing Era, performing high-energy Lindy Hop dance routines with the big band. Martyn Nelson, founder of The Swing Era, will be providing beginner swing dance lessons at the Ever-After Vintage Tea Dance during the day. (link?)
To round the evening off, Sugarfoot Stomp, a group of time-ladies sent to scintillate the ears with fine music from the 1920s -1960s, are sure to keep your toes tapping.
Come and join us for a great evening of entertainment and dancing. Vintage dress encouraged!’
