Start Dancing: 6 week Level 1 course
Sign up for our Level 1 Lindy Hop Course if you have never danced swing dance before. Start off your journey into lindy hop with a solid foundation and learn how to lead and follow from the beginning. You will learn all the core basic skills so that you will dance with confidence.

We are so pleased to invite you to our Friday evening social ‘Swing at St Columba’.
Come along and swing into the weekend with our new regular monthly Social dance. Amazing DJ’s playing swing music to keep you on the floor all night. We’ve also acquired the lovely little small room on the side as a beginners practice room.
New to Lindy Hop? Try our popular Taster class from 7-8pm
All levels welcome! Bring your own drinks snacks.

Swing at The Bothy
‘Swing at The Bothy’ is the notorious biweekly swing social dance run by The Swing Era, a swing dance school in Birmingham (United Kingdom).
The Bothy is a shed with rustic charm in the beer garden of the beautiful independent Prince of Wales pub in Moseley. ‘ Swing at the Bothy’ is sometimes referred to as Birmingham’s version of Herrang… but then a tiny notch smaller! Ever since The Swing Era started running classes at a nearby dance school in 2014 the students have come to The Bothy for a drink and a dance after class.
This is a FREE event, although we do take donations to help us put on live music nights.
8-9pm Beginners social dance practice (open to everyone, as long as you dance with beginners only)
9-11pm Social dance (open to all)
Every social we’ll have a fantastic DJ from our swing dance scene to play you the finest tunes…

- Record number of 43 swing dancers dancing at the same time (2017)
- Record number of 14 swing dance couple dancing at the same time (2018)

Other fun facts:
- The DJ booth is the first seat on the bench on the left (everybody knows this)
- Dancers have travelled from far and wide to attend this social: USA, Canada, Romania, Lithuania, Portugal, Korea, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Holland, Italy, Nigeria, Australia, Scotland, France, Wales, Mexico, Greece, Spain and India
- Regular visitors are now masters in floor craft

The Sunday Shakedown
Hot Ginger and The Swing Era have teamed up to bring exciting social dances to Birmingham with internationally experienced DJ’s playing high quality Vintage swing music. We’ll start you off with a swing dance taster workshop (different theme every month!) then we’ll have a great afternoon of social dancing.
